About the artist:
Richard Parraga
Richard Parraga’s paintings have been juried and displayed at the Oregon State Fair Fine Arts Department for thirteen consecutive years. His painting “Point Lookout” was entered into the 2009 Marion County Fair where it was juried, and honored three times – it was awarded First Place, Best of Class, and Best of Show. The Marion County Fair then entered the painting in the Oregon State Fair Fine Arts Department Best of County Fair Display. “Point Lookout” was given the Directors’ Award Rosette for the Best of County Fair and received the top honor for the Oregon Art Award for the 2009 Oregon State Fair.
During November 2011 Richard’s painting “The Rose” was chosen to be the cover art for the December 6th Oregon Symphony Orchestra program featuring the world redound Pinchas Zukerman, conductor and violin.
Richard’s most valued achievement has been donating a painting for auction for the past six years to the Partnership in Community Living. His support of this organization has contributed financial assistance to those in his community who are in need.
Richard is a member of Artists in Action Salem Oregon and the Lincoln City Art Cultural Center, Lincoln City, Oregon and the California based Highland Art Association and the Trinity County Art Council. His paintings have been juried and five times awarded Best of Show. In addition he has been honored with five Best of Class Rosettes, four Fair Theme Rosettes and many First, Second and Third Place Ribbons by the judges of the Marion County Fair Fine Arts Department. His paintings have been displayed at the Oregon State Department of Agriculture’s Office and the Oregon State Farm Bureau Offices.
Since his retirement from the newspaper industry in California where he was recognized and awarded for excellence in layout and design, Richard and his wife, Carole, spend their time in Salem, Oregon and at their lake house in Lewiston, California. Richard enjoys time with his family and painting.
